Why Chickens

So people ask why chickens why have a farm (hobby farm) why waste the money on feeding animals that do nothing for you. I'm no writer it's fine. So why cats why dogs? Why have that budgie sitting in that cage over in the corner. Why? Well I'm gonna tell you why :) For me anyways my blog I can say what I want hahahaha. Start with chickens you obviously have to have a love for animals and like doing outside jobs you cant be afraid to get in the mud. Where there's a farm there's mud and poo lots and lots of poo. Which is one of the reasons right there for chickens. Chicken shit is great for the garden. Its so beautifully rich for your garden to till up in spring before planting. But make sure it is aged a few months to fresh will burn your plants. Chickens are amazing companions they are fantastic to watch throughout the day scratching the ground and looking for bugs you spend enough time with them they become really wonderful pets following you around the yard just like a dog. Theres something about Watching them in the yard it's peaceful and relaxing. Give them a name and they come running when called. They are Masters at finding ticks! We have been tick free in the main yard for years. No ticks on us no tick on the other animals everyone's happy! They will clean the area no problem if they are free range to roam around the yard. But watch for predators. Chickens are an easy meal for a hawk. EGGS!!!! What would we do with out the chicken eggs!!! We eat a lot of eggs every morning for for breakfast we cook with them throughout the day we pickle them we hatched them so that we have more chickens.. It's a vicious cycle. Then the hatching chicks can be sold if you like someone is always looking for more chickens and if you have a certain breed as we do (Silkies) we use it to mainly

pay for the feed or upgrades to the coop one way or the other it gets put back into the farm. Our chickens do pay for themselves for the most part. There is a saying if god wants me to have 10 chickens 20 it is! We will be starting hatching in Spring 2023. Its true you want one of every color. Thanks for reading. Next will be goat talk.
